The Sound Mandala

The prospect of an immersive listening experience was decided upon from the very beginning of the creative process, and the Sound Mandala proved to be the perfect environment to work in. Described as "a new space to listen and experience fully immersive audio like you’ve never heard before," the Sound Mandala allows for audiences to listen to sound in three dimensions with ultra-detailed clarity and movement.

Working in the Sound Mandala

The Sound Mandala is a multi-channel output system, and with speakers positioned in an array around, above and below the listener, sound can be moved in three dimensions, creating a fully immersive sonic experience. The current iteration of the Sound Mandala features 40 individual speakers allowing for ultra-fine movement detail. Creating motion with sound in this environment requires planning and mapping of the sound in the space, then translating that into a speaker signal using audio routing software.
